Bulnesia sarmientoi is a tree from the central part of the South America, it is famous by its durable wood. It is used by the local aborigines for making furniture, tableware and souvenirs.
It is known in Paraguay as "Palo santo" or "Saint Tree". The wood varies from green to brightly yellow color, density from 0.92 to 1.1 g/cm. It is also used for extracting cosmetic oil known as guayacol, as well as the ingredients for the organic paints and resins.
It is very popular in ritual ceremonies as the smoking wood possesses strong aromatic properties.
